Well that can be a tough question and there are alot of stuff that goes along with that. If we are going to chance the culture around us we need people to lead. There needs to be people that will step up and say yes I will lead but the problem with that is just cause you say it doesn’t mean it’s true. The biggest thing is if your a leader look behind you if people are following you then your leading but if no one is following you you’re just out for a walk.
One great thing that I saw a picture of and I cant find the picture so I am going to describe it.
It had a picture of a triangle and at the base of it was writing “options” and on the right vertically was writing “leadership” what the image was stating that as you get higher in leadership you have less options. The biggest problem with alot of people with leadership is they think they get more options in leadership but that is untrue your options are less cause you have to be reliable and consistent.
There’s a couple quotes I would like to hit from John Maxwell’s book “Be A People Person”.
Leaders are to live higher than followers
A great way to think of this is kind of in the way of a double standard. If your leading you can’t be going and doing what everyone else is doing. If your friends are drinking and your being a leader or you don’t want them to drink you can’t be doing it either.
So if you want to be leading to change a culture you can’t be doing what the culture you are trying to change is doing.
Leadership is not a position which one is given, It’s a position which one earns by proving faithful.
You can’t just decided to wake up and be a leader one day. You may have a call to be a leader but it requires being faithful. People need to know they can rely on you.
A person of integrity is one who has a system of values against which all live is judged.
I am pretty sure what he is stating here is that as we are leaders we need to have a life that others can judge their life with. Now they shouldn’t imitate you but they should judge their life on the word and on Christ but your life reinstates that.
Authority minus accountability equals a very dangerous situation.
If you are in a place of authority over people and you are accountable to no one it is asking for a bad bad situation. If you aren’t accountable you have no one to keep you on track and if you fall it can be disastrous for you and those whom are following.
When a leader stumbles others fall.
When you fall those under you are going to fall. If you can’t live up to that commitment then you aren’t ready to be a leader.
Well what are your thoughts and what do you think should be added? Let me know.

Dear Jeremy,
That is an excellent post. One who is faithful in little is faithful in much.
I had written an article on integrity a long time back: Do not lie one to another
Integrity is wholeness…where your words match up with your actions. This is the foundation of being faithful as you have stated in your post.
