Monday Study - April Week 3
So I want to start something new that I am going to try and do every monday for posting. I’m going to call it monday study. We will just go thru some scripture verses that I have read during the week and talk and discuss what they mean to us.
I put the following scriptures in specific order. There is a general outline here but I’m not going to tell you what it is. I want you to read the scriptures and study them for what they mean to you then let me know what the outline of these scriptures is for you.
I have my meaning that God has shown me through the following passages but I want God to show you what he wants to show you thru the following passages.
2 Timothy 3:14-17(NLT)
14 But you must remain faithful to the things you have been taught. You know they are true, for you know you can trust those who taught you. 15 You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.
The definitive point in this scripture to me has to be when we hit verse 16. Paul goes on to say that all scripture is inspired by God and to help us with our lives. Well that means if it’s God inspired and God breathed that God is wanting to guide us to bettering ourselves. But it doesn’t say that God tells us what is wrong in our lives it says it will make “US” realize what is wrong in our lives.
God could tell us all he wants what’s wrong in our lives but he shows us in his word so we realize for ourselves what is wrong in our lives.
Hebrews 5:8(NLT)
8 Even though Jesus was God’s Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered.
This verse is really simple. Christ learned obedience for what he suffered. Well its the same with our parents. We never grew up being obedient to our parents tell they told us to do something and we didn’t do it and we suffered for it. They told us not to jump on the bed and eventually we did and fell off and got hurt. Through our suffering in that we become more obedient to our parents will cause we know they can see the outcome of the situation where we can not cause we our focusing on ourselves and not the whole situation.
Hebrews 6:1-6(NLT)
1 So let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ again and again. Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding. Surely we don’t need to start again with the fundamental importance of repenting from evil deeds and placing our faith in God. 2 You don’t need further instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. 3 And so, God willing, we will move forward to further understanding.
4 For it is impossible to bring back to repentance those who were once enlightened—those who have experienced the good things of heaven and shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the power of the age to come—6 and who then turn away from God. It is impossible to bring such people back to repentance; by rejecting the Son of God, they themselves are nailing him to the cross once again and holding him up to public shame.
Ok I’m going to point out one thing in this scripture and that one thing alone. In verse 2 it says “You don’t need further instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment.
Ok we don’t need any more instruction? Instruction means to teach someone something so they can do it. Now teach would be so they understand but Paul used instruct. So that means we should know about laying on of hands and the resurrection of the dead as if it was something we did as an everyday thing cause it would be basic Christianity in our walk with God.
I don’t know about you but that is not something that is daily in my life or something I think I have done at all. I’ve prayed for people but resurrecting the dead? Yeah I haven’t done that one at all.
Kinda opened up my eyes that praying for people and seeing miracles should be normal to us and it shouldn’t be something we are always learning about.
I don’t know it was just something really cool God showed me.
2 Timothy 4:2-5(NLT)
2 Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.
3 For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will reject the truth and chase after myths.
5 But you should keep a clear mind in every situation. Don’t be afraid of suffering for the Lord. Work at telling others the Good News, and fully carry out the ministry God has given you.
Preach the Word of God. Ok thats simple we need to preach the word of God. But be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. So I should be preaching the word of God in the favorable times and the not so favorable times. Thats an interesting thought.
I have many things running through my head on that one but I want to know what you think about that.
So that is my Monday Study for the week and I hope to hear what God showed you and I would love to discuss these scriptures in more detail. So comment and/or drop a line I would love to hear from you.
