When we conform to an image of what we THINK Christ-likeness is, we are only conforming to a religous norm.

@Nathan: That’s a great point. We need to know who Christ really was if we are going to follow Him instead of someone telling us who he is. ~ Jeremy

There’s nothing wrong with “following the trends” as long as we ask this question to ourself: “If Jesus is here with us, will He be happy to see us dress-up (or ….. [fill in the blanks]) like that?

Although of course, the answer to that is varied for different people, depends on how close they are with God

Thanks for taking the time to write this series of posts. I’m all to aware of the issue of being culturally relevant, however it is also important to realize that if we are walking on the “narrow” path then the result is that we are going to be hated for his name sake.

Why?

Because the cross of Christ is offensive to those who are perishing and scripture instructs in several places that we will be hated for His name sake. This is not to admit that there is alot of Christian Cultural stupidity that causes “the world” to hate Christians.

There is a fine tension between staying faithful to Jesus Christ and yet being relevant to the world, and in the end, we have to remain faithful to Christ regardless of what impression it makes upon the world.

Blessings!
