Well I’ve gotta story to tell you about anger. I’m not a naturally angry person. I think the only time I was ever like really angry was once when someone was talking trash about my girlfriend(EX) and that was like 3 years ago. Well over the weekend my cell phone started deleting all my contacts and it started to make me mad but I gave it another chance. Well I was at the young adult hang out and it deleted them again and so I just gave up on it right there. I dropped it on the ground and kicked it across the room and broke it.
It took me a awhile to realize what had happened. I thought it was funny and I needed a new phone anyways so who cares what happens to it but then I realized that my anger caused me to action that I normally wouldn’t have.
So I got to thinking over the weekend why is it that when anger takes control we are totally different. Well I don’t think there is anything wrong with being upset or being angry but it depends on how you act. Me kicking my phone across the room wasn’t a sin but had I been angry for someone for doing something and I beat the snot out of them then yeah that would be a sin. Either way my anger caused me to action that I normally wouldn’t have.
It was funny cause I’ve had this in my head and I have been going back and forth on whether or not to talk about it and then I was reading Psalms this morning and God just kinda pointed it out to me.
Psalms 4:4 (NCV)
When you are angry, do not sin. Think about these things quietly as you go to bed.
Well I guess God kinda had to remind me of that. When you are angry do not sin. Anger is normal and it’s a form of expressions when you are upset or someone has done something to harm you. But it is when you sin cause of that is when it’s bad.
Here are some ways that anger could make you sin:
Cussing,
Hitting,
Talking Bad About Someone,
Gossip,
Lie,
Cheat,
Steal
There are alot of things that can come from anger if you let it control you.
I usually never get angry but I guess when I do it’s probably a good thing that I know that God can keep me from sinning.
What are some area’s you have sinned cause of anger?
What are things that make people angry in our culture?
Where is the point when your anger causes action?
These are some questions you can answer and I hope to expand on later from the discussion we will have.
Feel free to add any points or any thoughts you have also. I will be expanding and would love to share what knowledge you have been given.
Much Love ~ Jeremy Newton
P.S. To let you know I’m stuck with an old cell phone I hate cause of my actions. So there is always a consequence for your action =)

Jeremy,
Great post. You hit the nail on the head. Anger is not necessarily wrong. Remember when Jesus cleared the Temple. He was a bit upset I think. Anyway, it is important that we have self control when we are angry and as the scripture said “do not sin”. This is something we all need practice in, thank goodness for God’s grace. Thanks again.
